What do we charge?

‘We’ in this case is a bit grand, as Doing Good is just Laura, 90% of the time.
In the case that you’re working with me as a solitary consultant, I’ll work with you under a day rate agreement and bill you according to the amount of time we’re agreed. For charities, non-profits and the public sector my standard day rate is £600. I offer a discounted rate for certain projects to small charities or in special circumstances. For pro bono work, I offer an hour of my time through digital candle.

Where projects are larger, involving research costs, collaborators, or a spec working to deliverables, I work to a project cost. My minimum budget for a project is £2500 (this would typically be a small training or workshop project).

Every project is different which is why I like to agree a rough framework of days and then review how we’re using that time regularly.

To give you an idea, here’s the time taken against some recent projects:

  • Investigating an area flagged to my client organisation as a potential concern. My approach included interviews with the public and with colleagues and ethnographic research. I presented my findings as a research report with recommendations, and a platform for developing solutions.

  • Providing support to a client organisation as they launched a new New Product Development team. 20 days over 3 months to support with developing team strategy, NPD process, and a centralised set of tools and approaches.

  • Leading the development of a new Christmas Campaign informed by the lived experience of my client organisation’s supporters and support users. Working with internal colleagues I led the discovery, insight platform, ideation and proposition development.
